It seemed like the juggernaut would just keep rolling, but after 10 years, 38 members, 15 babies, 5 broken bones, 3 crashed vans, 4 releases and a million beers, Melbourne's dub reggae institution THE RED EYES are calling it a day.
Formed in 2002 The Red Eyes sucessful 2010 release "Red Army" was a finalist for Best Blues and Roots album at the Australian Indie Record Label awards and in 2011 lead singer El Witteri was a finalist for the APRA songwriter of the year. 2007 release "Rudeworld" and their 2 EP's 'Highplace' and 'Prolific/My Kingdom' have collectively sold over 12.000 copies world wide.
The Red Eyes unique Dub/Reggae style and larger than life stage shows have seen their fan base grow and the band have played many major festivals including Bluesfest, Woodford, Raggamuffin and many more.
Their final show as the Red Eyes is on Saturday 10th November at the Corner Hotel in Richmond, Victoria and will feature members, past and present, who will play pretty much every song ever played by the band, featuring the core 10 piece, plus many guest artists yet to be announced.
