Females are heavily underrepresented in creative roles within the music industry. Statistics from the 2022 USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative showed that 12.8% of songwriters are female, 22.3% of artists are female, and only 2.8% of music producers are female. Sourced from the 2023 Fix the Mix Report, male tech creators outnumber female tech creators 49:1. To address this, on this Sista's of Spin show we will not only be hearing female-produced songs, but I also had the chance this week to catch up with female artist and producer CHAII and have a chat about her latest music releases, production techniques, and how being a female has impacted her career.
