DAVID BROMBERG was born 19th September, 1945 in Philadelphia, but spent most of his childhood in Tarrytown, NY. As a teenager, he got hooked on rock’n’roll and then began exploring the blues, folk and country artists that informed early rock like Pete Seeger, Rev. Gary Davis, Muddy Waters, Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe. He took up guitar at 13 and after graduating from High School attended Columbia University, where he studied musicology. During this time he started playing the Greenwich Village folk clubs and took lessons from Rev. Gary Davis.

Bromberg accompanied Rosalie Sorrels to the Isle Of Wight Festival in 1970 and was signed to Columbia Records as a solo artist. He became an in-demand session player for a huge range of artists including Tom Paxton, Tom Rush, Jerry Jeff Walker (whom he played with for a couple of years), Bob Dylan, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Doug Sahm and many more.

In 1977, Bromberg signed with Berkeley, CA based label Fantasy Records , where he released 4 albums before taking a sabbatical from touring in 1980.

In 1990, after releasing ‘Sideman Serenade’ he retired from performing and concentrated on building up his business “David Bromberg Fine Violins” in Wilmington, Delaware. He repairs, builds and deals in quality instruments. In 2007, he was persuaded to record a solo album ‘Try Me One More Time’ , then last year’s ‘Use Me’ followed.
