Alison Entrekin, an Australian who has lived in Santos, Brazil for 20 years where she translates Brazilian Portuguese literature into English. She has been translating many of Brazil's best and most complicated writers, like Clarice Lispector and Chico Buarque for many years. These are complicated writers. Her job is not just to do a basic translation, it is to try to capture the real essence of the books she is translating. She has studied creative writing in Australia and literary translation in Brazil.
